Kent CC solicitor runs for election as junior lawyers rep on Law Society Council
A local authority lawyer is standing for election as a Law Society Council member representing the Junior Lawyers Division.
Beth Forrester, a childcare lawyer at Kent County Council, is thought to be the only candidate with a local government background.
Ben Watts, group leader – litigation and social welfare at Kent, said: “I would heartily endorse Beth as a candidate who deserves a vote. Beth is not only a committed childcare lawyer but also somebody who has been dedicated to the Junior Lawyers Division since the time she was taking her LPC.
“She is passionate about the key areas of change and the role that junior lawyers can play in the development of the new legal climate. She is committed to making a real difference for the right reasons.”
The JLD has two places on the council: one for a trainee solicitor/student and one for a junior solicitor (with up to five years’ pqe).
The voting closes at 5 pm on 20 June.
The JLD is the largest special interest group within the Law Society with more than 70,000 members.
