The Director of Legal Services for the Welsh Government, Jeff Godfrey, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to “Devolution and the Legislative Process in Wales”.

The Welsh Government Legal Services Department is the largest public sector legal department in Wales.

Part of the Office of the First Minister, it has more than 100 lawyers and support staff providing legal advice and legislative drafting services to Welsh Ministers across all Cabinet portfolios.

Two members of the Government Legal Department (GLD) have also been handed the same honour.

Nick Price, Deputy Director, Operations at the GLD was recognised “for public service and for services to Diversity and Inclusion”.

Emma Burgess, Senior Lawyer in the Ministry of Justice Legal Team at the GLD meanwhile received her award “for services to International Relations”.
